Thiomarinols B and C, new antimicrobial antibiotics produced by a marine bacterium.

چکیده
In our previous papers, wereported the structure and stereochemistry of thiomarinol A (previously referred to as thiomarinol)1'2*, produced by a marine bacterium, Alteromonas rava sp. nov. SANK733903), which has antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria. Thiomarinol A (TMA) is a hybrid antibiotic composed of a pseudomonic acid analogue and holothin. In this paper we report the isolation, structure elucidation and antimicrobial activities of new thiomarinol derivatives, thiomarinols B (TMB)4) and C (TMC)5).

Production of bacteriocin by a novel Bacillus sp. strain RF 140, an intestinal bacterium of Caspian Frisian Roach (Rutilus frisii kutum)
Bacteriocins are proteinaceous antibacterial compounds that exhibit bactericidal activity against species closely related to the producer strain. The aim of this research was to investigate the production of bacteriocin by Bacillus spp. isolated from intestinal bacterial flora of the Caspian Frisian Roach (Rutilus frisii kutum). A bacteriocin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus strain RF ...
متن کاملNew anticancer antibiotics pelagiomicins, produced by a new marine bacterium Pelagiobacter variabilis.
In the course of our screening for new anticancer compounds produced by marine bacteria, we found that a new genus marine bacterium Pelagiobacter variabilis produced new phenazine antibiotics, pelagiomicins A, B and C. Those compounds were labile in water and alcohols. The absolute structure of the main component, pelagiomicin A, and the structures of the minor ones were determined from the spe...
متن کاملAn Increase in Antimicrobial Effects of Standard Antibiotics in Combination with the Active Metabolites Isolated from Marine Streptomyces: A Laboratory Study
Background and Objectives: Combination therapy has been considered as a potential approach to overcome antimicrobial resistance. In this study the antimicrobial effects of active compounds produced by some marine Streptomyces spp. in combination with some standard antibiotics against multidrug-resistant pathogens was investigated. Materials and Methods: In this laboratory study, the bacteria i...

In recent years, scientists and researchers from all over the world pay much attention to carotenoid pigments as a substitute for antibiotics and synthetic chemical compounds with antioxidant property and the plants, various microorganisms including bacteria and algae are also capable of producing carotenoid pigments. In this research, the production of antimicrobial and antioxidant carotenoid ...
متن کاملIsolation, Partial Purification and Characterization of an Antimicrobial Compound, Produced by Bacillus atrophaeus
BACKGROUND Antibiotics are usually assumed as secondary metabolites produced during the idiophase of microbial growth, which can kill or inhibit the growth of other microorganisms. Nowadays, indiscriminate use of antibiotics has resulted in resistant microorganisms. Therefore, screening researches on products with antimicrobial activities are necessary. OBJECTIVES To find new antibiotics to d...
